As part of Bord na Móna’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and compliance with recent regulatory mandates, we are excited to inform you about an important update regarding our waste management services. In accordance with the recent amendment of The European Union Household Food Waste and Bio-waste regulations all customers will have access to brown bins for organic waste disposal.
We are working diligently to ensure a smooth and prompt national rollout across all serving counties and are targeting to have this rollout completed by mid to late summer. Implementing this change requires careful planning and coordination. We currently have a new fleet of specialist refuse collection vehicles on order, which are due to be delivered over the next 1 to 4 months.
Despite its operational cost Bord na Móna Recycling recognises that extending the provision of brown bins is integral to supporting more effective waste management. Organic waste, such as food scraps and garden debris will be collected in this bin and processed for composting, contributing to a more sustainable future. We are proud to say that we have a high provision of brown bin services across our serving counties, more than most other rural waste collection service providers.
What happens next?
The best part is you don’t need to do a thing! To streamline communication and provide timely updates, we will be sending notifications to inform you when your brown bin will be delivered and when collection services will commence in your area.
We appreciate your support and cooperation as we work to enhance our waste management services and help create a more sustainable future for everyone. What could be MORE important than that?
