Bord na Móna Recycling believes in community. That’s why every year we support charities and our local areas in any way we can. The Drehid Community Gain Fund was set up for this purpose and in 2024, a total of €193,448 was awarded to local groups through this fund.

Over 50 projects both big and small were supported in 2024. These included Allenwood Daycare Centre with the purchase of two Cardiac Defibrillators, a new playground area with Anne Street Residents Association, an outdoor recreational area on the school grounds in St Patrick’s N.S and drainage of the playing pitch in Coill Dubh Hurling Club.

The Drehid Community Gain Fund initially was set up in 2008 after the development of our Drehid Waste Management Facility, with the aim to give back to the local community in the area and help the community spirit to grow.

The grant scheme is administered by Kildare County Council, with a community liaison committee assessing the grant applications and making recommendations on funding decisions.

Since the beginning of this scheme, grants totaling over €4 million have been awarded to projects in the community including community groups, resident associations, youth and scout groups, sporting organisations, charities, tidy town committees, schools, and environmental and heritage groups. We are honored to have the opportunity to support some of these amazing initiatives.

The 2025 Drehid Grant Scheme is open from applications from January 20th, and will close on March 14th 2025 at 5 p.m. Local clubs, associations, and other community groups can apply for funding to help with various community-based initiatives and improvement projects.

Bord na Móna Recycling looks forward to continuing to fund more incredible community projects in 2025.
