At Bord na Móna Recycling, we’re passionate about giving back to our communities. This December, we’re proud to have contributed 93.4kg of hygiene products through our Charity Fund to assist the Hygiene Hub with their Christmas demands. This donation will benefit numerous families of four, providing essentials like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, nappies, period products, and more.

The Bord na Móna Recycling Charity Fund is dedicated to reinvesting in the communities we serve. By allocating a portion of our revenue to community initiatives and charities, we aim to enhance the well-being and development of those around us. Our recent donation to the Hygiene Hub reflects this commitment and highlights the pressing need to address hygiene poverty.
Founded with the goal of addressing hygiene poverty, the Hygiene Hub has been a beacon of support for vulnerable communities. The organisation began collecting and donating toiletries to local charities, recognising that food hampers often overlook essential hygiene products. They established drop-off points in businesses to encourage public donations and distribute items to organisations in need.
Their journey began in late 2019 with a modest 30kg donation to a homeless charity in inner-city Dublin. Fast forward to early 2024, and the Hygiene Hub has distributed over 60,000 products, supporting over 100 organisations across Ireland. Their mission is simple yet impactful: “To tackle hygiene poverty, one helping hand at a time.”
Christmas is a time of giving, and we’re honoured to play a role in making it brighter for families in need. By supporting initiatives like the Hygiene Hub, we’re helping to ensure that essential hygiene products reach those who need them most. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the fight against hygiene poverty.
