Bord na Móna Recycling is delighted to have won the ICCLA Greening Project of the Year Award at Ireland’s Climate Change Leadership Awards for its Primary Schools Upcycling Competition.
The Climate Change Leadership Awards honoured businesses, organisations, individuals and initiatives that demonstrated outstanding commitment and innovation in making positive changes to help address the challenge of climate change, with the Urban Green Award specifically recognising initiatives that enhanced spaces, improved environmental quality, and benefited communities.
Taking place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, the MC for the evening was, RTE presenter Sinead Kennedy who commenced proceedings by introducing Minister Ossian Smyth, of the Green Party to deliver an insightful keynote address to attendees.
The environmental impact of Primary Schools Upcycling Competition was significant, as demonstrated by the enriching of local biodiversity, the reduction in waste and environmental pollution and the repurposing of old materials. The initiative highlighted the value of discarded materials and enhanced communities across Ireland with notable projects including; sensory gardens, vegetable plants, bug hotels, environmental protection features as well as artistic projects which beautified their surroundings.
