Bord na Móna Employee Family Fun Day at Lough Boora Discovery Park – A Day to Remember!

On the 1st of September, Bord na Móna employees and their families gathered at the scenic Lough Boora Discovery Park for a fantastic day filled with laughter, entertainment, and plenty of family fun. The event, which drew an impressive crowd of over 400 people, an truly delivered an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as musician Kyle Higgins set the scene for the day with live performances. His vibrant tunes set the perfect tone for what was to come. As the day progressed, a talent showcase provided a stage for some hidden gems within our Bord na Móna family. Attendees were treated to great performances, including soulful singing, mind-blowing handstands, and even splits, proving that we’ve got talent in every corner of our community!

Of course, no event is complete without delicious food, and the day did not disappoint. A variety of food trucks were on hand to satisfy every craving. From the mouthwatering pastries of Ballycommon Bake House to the cheesy delights of Packman Pizza and the hearty offerings of Spudfest, there was something for everyone.

Children and adults alike were spoiled for choice when it came to activities. Carnival games kept the competitive spirit alive, while face painting transformed little ones into their favourite characters. There were squeals of laughter as kids enjoyed the bouncy castle, rodeo bull, and the playful antics of a lively clown and magician. The tots had their own special zone where they could safely enjoy the day’s festivities. For those wanting to capture memories, the photo booth was a hit, with families leaving with a fun snapshot of the day.

But it wasn’t just about high-energy activities. The event also embraced the natural beauty of Lough Boora, with guided ecology walks allowing families to explore the stunning surroundings while learning about the local environment. For those looking for relaxation and mindfulness, yoga and breathwork sessions offered a peaceful retreat amid the excitement.

A surprise appearance by Wendy the Waste Bin brought smiles to children’s faces, as she handed out educational packs to teach children about the importance of waste management and environmental responsibility in a fun and engaging way.
